Ho Ho Ho
This weekend, we made our annual trip to the mall to see Santa. And as with tradition, Dan-El sat on Santa's lap, while Jak-El wanted absolutely no part of it.
He was however, happy to pose near Santa's village.
He also insisted on having his photo taken with the Ronald McDonald statue.
(the next morning, as we walked to school)
Lois: So what was your favorite part of the weekend?
Dan-El: Going to see Santa and getting a milk shake.
Lois: That's nice.
Dan-El: Someday, I want to go see Barack Obama.
Lois: Um, you know that he doesn't go to the mall and pose for photos like Santa, right?
Dan-El: Oh.....I want to go see an anteater.

1) Great pictures! I especially like the one of them loitering nonchalantly against the fence of Santa's Village.
2) I want to go see an anteater, too! Is there an Anteater Village at the mall (mostly made up of Ant Farms?)?
3) Is Jak-El creeped out by Mall Santa? I was, too. My sister's major childhood creep-out: Clowns.

2. I don't know, but there should be! (And I have no idea why he came up with anteaters as the animal of choice.)
3. He's creeped out by any adult he doesn't know in a costume. We're trying to break him of that, because both kids want to go to Disney, and I don't want to go with a kid who's terrified that Mickey might be lurking behind every corner.
Honestly, I think that Ronald McDonald statue looks WAY creepier than the very friendly Santa (with real lovely white beard, might I add) but what do I know?

Well, come to think of it, being creeped out by any adult he doesn't know in a costume is perfectly understandable. I know a child that remains haunted by Chuck E. Cheese. Yet: Yeah, it would definitely put a crimp in the whole Disney thing. Maybe you could get all your neighbors to dress up in costumes and go about their daily routines--just to get him used to it? Brandish bags of poo at 'em and they'll comply.
