Bummer, huh? Excellent video clip.

I actually went hunting for a clip of Rick Moranis' very demented impression of Merv from "SCTV," which I couldn't find. But I think this is much better.

My mom used to watch Merv every afternoon when I was a kid, so I did too. Right after "Batman" reruns, of course.

I have a big job due in a few minutes. So, my first priority is to hit Google and find that Rick Moranis clip for you...(Note: We had the exact same TV routine growing up. Due to my grandmother's programming, Mike Douglas was also involved.)

Ah yes, Mike Douglas. I seem to recall him coming on earlier in the day, so I only saw him when I was home sick from school.

They don't quite make talk show hosts in this mold anymore, do they? And we lost Tom Snyder a few weeks ago too.

Maybe someone should give Regis Philbin a check-up, just in case.

Was anybody else immediately reminded of Milk and Cheese's "Merv Griffin" strip?

It's a hell of a thing, having images of dairy products gone bad running around screaming "MERV GRIFFIN!" while destroying everything they could get their hands on.

Made for a distracting weekend.

Thanks, Lamont...in addition to everything else, I know have the blancmange Monty Python skit stuck in my head too.
